Rick Genest Cover-up

Amazing video of fashion model Rick Genest (aka Zombie Boy) having his incredible body tattoos covered. He his best know for his role in the Lady Gaga vide "Born this way" and as a fashion model for Mugler.

The make-up by the Dermablend team takes away his trademark tattoos on his body and face to make him look like he has flawless skin.

Closer to Goapele

The Fillmore Heritage Center celebration came alive with jazz and the locals of Western Addition. The concert featured Vinyl, Kim Nalley, Michael Auberg Group featuring Goapele, and Booker T. Jones.

The afternoon was wonderful. Oakland girl, Goapele was impeccable, her sleek, classic look, as flawless as her voice. She wore a form fitting grey dress that eluded a a vintage feel, but had a very modern assymmetrical hem at the knee. The dress was finished with a high-waisted belt. Her hair was parted down the middle and braided tight on each side. Her accessories appeared to be vintage and her heels were very cute. Her make-up was simple and her beauty radiated through the crowd.

Her performance was magical. The Michael Auberg Ensemble provided the instrumentation - a bass player, trumpeter, saxophonist, and organist. The rhythm was kept (and taken beyond) by an amazing drummer.

Here's Goapele's performance of "Closer" in the Fillmore. Enjoy the magic.

Dead Sexy

The new video for Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" just dropped. It's hard core! Just check it out - Kanye makes a quick cameo. I like that the video can hold up with out the artist as a focal point. It reminds me of Bjork's digital cameo appearance in "Joga". The short moment he appears is a vital part of the story and impactful because you only see him at that one moment. Thankfully, it wasn't hacked by the record company with performance pieces intercut. Kanye is keeping it fresh and turning the hip-hop world around and adding a bit of intelligence and creativity to the mix.
