Thanks to everyone in the Bay Area who was able to make it out to El Cerrito for the Tattoon Art show. The Eclectix Gallery was very hot, but fortunately the art was hotter! Tattoo and Cartoon art surprised and delighted many patrons and other artists. I showed three pieces: "Geisha", a Silkscreen and two Giclee prints on canvas of digital illustrations, "Moon Goddess" and "Mapache Boy".
Tortura T-Shirt designed by Xhico for Woolves. This shirt designed is based on one of my woodcuts, "TORTURA". Originally created for a Dia de los Muertos exhibition as a limited edition print. This print was a tribute to people who have been tortured and publicly humiliated doing so.
The mask seen in the image is inspired by an exhibit of torture devices I saw while visiting Mexico. Iron masks were placed on women who gossiped and they were forced to wear these devices in public. Some were rigged so that if the women talked, they would injured themselves. For example, possibly slice their tongues or lips while encaged with these devices. The text below the mask is in latin and translates to "women remain silent in church".

If you live in San Francisco, Darfur Dream Team will be having a fundraiser at The Mint Karaoke Bar on Wednesday, June 10.
I will be donating a print for their raffle to help raise funds for the youth of Eastern Chad. I will be donating this print "Diaspora". This print was inspired by my trip to the Museum of African Diaspora in San Francisco.
Every dollar raised helps the Youth of Darfur - $6 buys a textbook - $10 buys a basketball - $20 buys a desk ...
Check out this new silkscreen print, "Tokyo Peace". A Japanese city boy with a Harajuku Girl, call for peace, the sun sets on the horizon. This three color print on white paper is 14"x11" - Limited Edition of 25 - Signed and Numbered.
I went to the Museum of African Diaspora, aka MoAD, a couple months ago and was inspired by the visuals and stories I absorbed there. Lisette, Deja and I took advantage of the free silkscreen print making class while we were there. We sat and cut stencil designs out of paper and then did a monoprint silkscreen from them. My piece was of an African woman with neck decorations. Lisette did a profile of a man.

After getting home and looking at the piece I did that day, I began to work on this version of the illustration which became my print, "Diaspora". The print is one color, a metallic copper, on white paper, 11"x14" - signed and numbered. * You can purchase "Diaspora" on my PayPal widget.
Here is a new silkscreen print called "Puddle of Tears". I showed this print at the Mini-Bar show last month.
Silkscreen by Xhico
Inspired by looking out many dripping windows of cafes as i sketched in the rainy winter of San Francisco. The silkscreen is two colors on white paper - Limited Edition of 30 - Numbered and Signed. I also did a short run on gray paper and looks fantastic.
Special thanks to Bernadette for sponsoring this edition of prints. Much gratitude.
