Inner Sunset Farmers' Market Logo Final

Thanks for all the love for the new logo for the Inner Sunset Farmers' Market. The response has been great! They revealed the logo yesterday at the market... They gave me a shout out (even though my name was misspelled).

Don't forget... Buy Local. Buy Seasonal. Buy Organic.

Inner Sunset Farmers' Market Logo Winner!

Everyone knows I love to go to the Farmers' Market every week for my produce and much more (especially after seeing Food, Inc. last night). I also am a firm believer of being involved in the community and giving back the best way you can.

I recently entered a logo contest for local Inner Sunset Farmers' Market, which I frequent on Sunday mornings. Several people entered, including this very cool post-modern logo by a young kid. I was afraid, it would win... They put the logos out together at the market for a couple weeks and let the public vote.

I'm happy to say, I just found out my logo was the winner! Thanks for everyone who voted for me!

Gigspot Logo Explained

This is my symbol for Gigspot. Some people call it a logo, but I prefer looking at it as my "chop". It has been my mark for over a decade. I have this symbol tattooed on my left forearm. I am always asked about my mark. So here is the story.

For several years, the deer was my spirit guide. Thus, the deer head. The antlers grow from the head to form the letter "G". The "G" is for "Gigspot" as well as my last name, "Garcia". The structure of the "G" is modeled after a labyrinth. The story here is about finding my way into my head. Or out of it.

Tortura T-shirt design by Xhico

Tortura T-Shirt designed by Xhico for Woolves. This shirt designed is based on one of my woodcuts, "TORTURA". Originally created for a Dia de los Muertos exhibition as a limited edition print. This print was a tribute to people who have been tortured and publicly humiliated doing so.
The mask seen in the image is inspired by an exhibit of torture devices I saw while visiting Mexico. Iron masks were placed on women who gossiped and they were forced to wear these devices in public. Some were rigged so that if the women talked, they would injured themselves. For example, possibly slice their tongues or lips while encaged with these devices. The text below the mask is in latin and translates to "women remain silent in church".
Tees:
TORTURA -ACID WASH T-Shirt is available in the standard run as one-color natural ink on black. There are only 24 avaible of these for Pre-sale. $25 each
TORTURA - GOLD - LIMITED EDITION T-SHIRT highly limited edition T-shirt. Same Tortura image, but printed entirely in gold foil. Only 12 available for Pre-sale. $35 each
Both shirts availble for Pre-sale on Black V Neck Tees.
Available in Men's/Unisex S - M - L - XL - 2XL
ORDER NOW or wait until they hit boutiques in August!

"Diaspora" Silkscreen

I went to the Museum of African Diaspora, aka MoAD, a couple months ago and was inspired by the visuals and stories I absorbed there. Lisette, Deja and I took advantage of the free silkscreen print making class while we were there. We sat and cut stencil designs out of paper and then did a monoprint silkscreen from them. My piece was of an African woman with neck decorations. Lisette did a profile of a man.

[ DIASPORA ]

After getting home and looking at the piece I did that day, I began to work on this version of the illustration which became my print, "Diaspora". The print is one color, a metallic copper, on white paper, 11"x14" - signed and numbered. * You can purchase "Diaspora" on my PayPal widget.
